20 Easy Ways to Recycle, Conserve and Reuse

- Make it convenient to recycle by placing a recycling bin near your trash can or even inside your house so you can directly place cardboard, paper and cans into them.
- Ditch the paper napkins – use washable cloth ones instead!
- Buy recyclable shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste containers.
- Print on both sides of your paper.
- Drive the speed limit to conserve gas.
- Purchase a reusable bag for your grocery shopping instead of taking home plastic and paper bags.
- Buy concentrated cleaners and mix them using your our bucket or container instead of buying multiple bottles.
- Recycle your books and magazines by sharing them with friends or donating them to hospitals, dentist offices, etc.
- Subscribe to an online newspaper instead of print newspaper. Or, recycle your print newspaper buy using it as packing material or even bedding for your pets!
- Start your own compost. Learn how to make your own organic compost here.
- Look for local scrap iron dealers before hauling your rusty swing sets, bicycles or other metal materials off to the city dump.
- Make sure your water heater is thoroughly insulated. You could be cutting down nearly 20 percent of your home’s overall energy consumption.
- Use old bed sheets and tablecloths as drop cloths for painting instead of buying tarps.
- Old undershirts, washcloths and towels make great cleaning rags.
- Donate your old clothing to charity or a secondhand store.
- Create new meals with leftovers. Yesterday’s chicken roast could be today’s homemade chicken noodle soup.
- Use real dishes and silverware instead of plastic and paper ones.
- Whenever possible, buy recycled products.
- Skip the bottle water and bottle your own tap water with reusable drinking bottles.
